Bullying Issues Impacting Students with Disabilities: Highlights of Section 504 and IDEA Cases with Recommendations for Schools
As bullying and cyber bullying in K-12 schools receive increasing national attention, there has been a corresponding increase in litigation based on bullying and harassment claims. On November 14, 2013, Nicole D. Snyder, Esq. of Latsha Davis & McKenna, P.C. will present a paper.pdf she co-authored entitled "Bullying Issues Impacting Students with Disabilities: Highlights of Section 504 and IDEA Cases with Recommendations for Schools" for the Education Law Association (ELA). The session will be held at ELA's Annual Conference November 13-16, 2013 at the Westin Westminster in Westminster, Colorado. The purpose of this paper is to note trends in recent cases pertaining to bullying and harassment of students with disabilities in K-12 schools. In addition, this discussion will provide recommendations to school officials and attorneys on how to address the issue of bullying and harassment claims for school aged children with disabilities.
