Kevin M. McKenna is one of the state’s
leading attorneys in charter school and education law. He
represents numerous charter schools throughout the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania. Under his guidance, LATSHA DAVIS YOHE & MCKENNA, P.C.’s
client charter schools have had continuing success in cases before
the Pennsylvania Charter School Appeal Board, the Courts of Common
Pleas, the Commonwealth Court and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
Mr. McKenna also represents charter schools in cases of first
impression before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and is general
counsel for the Pennsylvania Charter School Board Association. He
also practices environmental Superfund and toxic tort litigation,
sports law, workers’ compensation defense, premises liability
defense, and insurance defense.
Mr. McKenna graduated from Villanova University with a
Bachelor of Arts and a Juris Doctorate. Prior to joining LATSHA DAVIS YOHE & MCKENNA, P.C., he was a partner in a Philadelphia firm.
Previously, he served as Chief Assistant City Solicitor for the
City of Philadelphia defending the Philadelphia Police Department
and the Department of Corrections in civil rights cases. Mr.
McKenna also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Randy J.
Holland, Supreme Court of Delaware.
Mr. McKenna is admitted to the Bars of Pennsylvania and
New Jersey, as well as the United States District Court for the
Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States District Court
for the District of New Jersey, and the United States District of
Columbia Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, District of Columbia and
American Bar Associations.
Mr. McKenna is counsel for the Pennsylvania Charter
School Board Association and regularly speaks at educational
forums. He is the author of numerous articles including: “Courts
Leave Legislators to Decide the Fate of the NCAA in Providing Due
Process”, Seton Hall Jour. Sport, 1, 1992; “The Tarkanian
Decision: The State of College Athletics is Everything But State
Action”, DePaul L. Rev. 40, 1991; “Age Limitations and the NCAA”,
St. Louis University L. Jour., 31, 1987; and “The Legality of NCAA
Prop”, 48, Duq. L. Rev. 26, 1987. He has co-authored “Policing
Sports Agents: The First Four Years”, University of Miami Ent. &
Sports L. Rev. 8, 1991; and “Drug Testing in Sports”, Dickin. L.
Rev. 92, 1988. He has lectured at charter school conferences as
well as sports law seminars including one for sports agents in San
Diego, California.
